Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed into law several major education bills passed by the Florida Legislature during its 2022 session, adding new transparency mandates on instructional material, eliminating Florida Standards Assessment and establishing a 12-year term limit for school board members, among other provisions.
One of the most controversial bills of the session was House Bill (HB) 1557, formally known as “Parental Rights in Education,” but often referred to as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by opponents.
