Catholic Church will host Easter cantata April 8

    Posted on April 6, 2022

Immaculate Conception Church will present an Easter cantata, “Who is This King?” on Friday, April 8, from 7-8 p.m., in the parish hall.

The free performance will feature musicians Olivia Ahyoung with Kenol and Ana Saint-Fort, along with Dr. Michael and Mrs. Marie Flowers.

“This Lenten cantata will use a combination of music, spoken words and a slideshow to emotionally draw the audience into the Passion of Jesus, inviting us to meditate on what His sacrifice ultimately means for each of us personally,” Father Matthew Busch said.

Those who witnessed the life and ministry of Jesus were consistently mixed in their verdicts about who He was. Many claimed Him to be the long-awaited Messiah, while others claimed Him a fraud.

Some accepted that He came bearing messages of peace and love, while others were looking for a king who would conquer with power and might.

Confusion surrounded even Christ’s most devoted followers in His final days when He was rejected and crucified, followed by the unprecedented events of the resurrection, resulting in a compelling affirmation: This was indeed the King of all kings!

Tallahassee resident Ahyoung comes from Guyana, South America, where she received her basic education and musical training.

She is a graduate of the Royal Schools of Music in London, gaining an additional certificate in education from London University’s Institute of Education.

In Tallahassee, Ahyoung has been actively involved in the sacred and secular musical life of the city.
