The Taylor County Commission has agreed to move forward with the second phase of a study of the county’s solid waste assessment to see what is needed to make the department self-sustaining, while also considering the financial impact of eliminating the current reduced rates offered to recreational vehicles (RVs) and hunting camps.
The commission voted 4-1 at its March 22 meeting to move forward with Phase II of the study. Commissioner Pam Feagle was the sole dissenting vote, stating that while she supported eliminating the reduced rate for RVs in which people are living, she could not support doing the same for hunting camps.
