    Meridy Janine Madert

    Meridy Janine Madert, 64, of Duluth, Ga., passed away on March 23, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.

    Meridy, more affectionately known as Jan, was born on Aug. 27, 1957, to Meridy and Jerrel Robertson in the town of Perry. After Jan graduated from Taylor County High School, she attended Florida State University and received degrees in communications and public relations.

    After graduation, she worked as an admissions consultant for Judson Baptist College and La Grange colleges. She was selected for inclusion in the 1979 addition of “Outstanding Young Women In America.” She worked numerous other jobs in the mortgage industry before meeting Martin Madert and marrying in 1984. Together, they would have two children, Seb and Sam.

    In life, Jan pursued many independent ventures, most notably freelance photography where she captured high school sports events, graduations and weddings.

    She was a skilled musician, and enjoyed creating art from calligraphy, sketches, painting and custom jewelry for friends and family.

    She was an active volunteer and loved to exercise her unique ability to give back to the community.

    Jan was predeceased by her father, Jerrel Robertson.

    She is survived by: her mother, Meridy; husband, Martin; sisters, Annette Farrell and Alise Tompson; brother, Jimmy Robertson; and sons, Seb and Sam.

    Her celebration of life services will be held Saturday, April 9, in Perry with the Rev. Kent Thompson officiating. A private interment service at the cemetery will be held at 9 a.m. Memorial services will follow at First Baptist Church, 102 N. Center Street in Perry.

    Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by memorial services at 11 a.m. All friends and family are invited for lunch in the reception hall of the First Baptist Church following the service.
