Public hearing on marina tax break set for April 19

    Posted on April 8, 2022

The Taylor County Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing to consider whether or not to provide a tax incentive to the currently-under-construction Steinhatchee Marina at Deadman’s Bay at its April 19 meeting.

The owners of the new Steinhatchee Marina at Deadman’s Bay currently under construction in Steinhatchee are seeking a 100% tax abatement over the next 10 years from the county commission under an economic development tax incentive program re-authorized by local voters in 2019.

The public hearing was originally scheduled to be held during the board’s April 4 meeting, but County Administrator LaWanda Pemberton told the commission that the applicant had requested the hearing be continued. As a result, the board voted to continue the hearing until the Tuesday, April 19, meeting at 9:10 a.m.
