County approves 50% tax abatement

The Taylor County Commission voted 3-2 in favor of an economic development incentive for the new Steinhatchee Marina at Deadman’s Bay, approving a 50% property tax abatement over the next five years, which is expected to save the company an estimated $126,000 in taxes.

The developers behind the project had requested a 100% abatement for 10 years, which would have saved the company approximately $500,000 over that period.
