Ned Kruis passed away peacefully at home at the age of 80 on Friday April 15, 2022, in Tallahassee, Florida after a battle with cancer. He died surround by his loving family at noon on Good Friday to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.
He was born in the Joure, a small town in The Netherlands, on March 28,1942. Ned immigrated from The Netherlands in 1965 & married Theresa Kruis in 1966. Before moving to the United States, he serviced in the Dutch military. After receiving his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, he worked for 46 years. He retired in January 2018 from Georgia Pacific in Perry Florida.
He was the son of the late Folkert Kruis and Diny Hylkemaof the Joure, Netherlands. He was the youngest of 7 children and is survived by his sister Agatha Schmidt.
Ned was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tallahassee, Florida. He was an active participant of their “That Man Is You” Group. He also enjoyed sailing, boating, fishing, running, and working in the yard.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Theresa Kruis; daughter Connie Kruis Faulkner and her husband Jason Faulkner of Dallas and their two children Hayden and Anneliese; daughter Brenda Kruis Auciello and her husband Eric Auciello of Tampa and their children Ryan and Kylie; son, Scott Kruis and his wife, Jennifer Huggler Kruis of Tallahassee and sons Camden Kruis and Brandon Booker. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather and he will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on May 3rd at 10:00 am. A reception will follow at the reception hall at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with interment following at Culley’s Meadow Wood Memorial Park. All family and friends are invited to attend in celebration of Ned’s life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice Foundation 1723 Mahan Center Blvd. Tallahassee, Florida 32308.
