A tornado packing 75 mph winds briefly touched down near the intersection of Hwy. 27 East and Jefferson Street just after 7 p.m. Friday, damaging several homes and businesses.
‘The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee released preliminary damage reports indicating the EF-0 tornado initially touched down near Cashway Building Supply and Homer J. Smith Ave., blowing over a fence and peeling back a section of tin roof on a local tavern (Whiskey Bent) west of South Quincy St. before continuing east northeast along Hampton Springs Avenue.
