County jail inmate Joseph “J.J.” Padgett spent 10 days on the run before being captured Monday afternoon, May 9, after police officers caught him attempting to steal copper wiring behind the former Pouncey’s restaurant.
Perry Police Department (PPD) Ptl. Chas Mitchell was the first officer on scene after being dispatched to the area regarding a report of someone being spotted inside the security fence behind the restaurant.
