County wants 2nd inmate squad

The Taylor County Commission is requesting the Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) provide a second inmate work squad from Taylor Correctional Institution (TCI) to be supervised by an employee of the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO).

Currently, the county has two inmate work squads provided through an interlocal agreement with Sheriff Wayne Padgett. One of those squads is manned with inmates from the Taylor County Jail, while the other consists of inmates from the local state prison (TCI) through a separate agreement between the county and FDOC approved last fall.
