Johnny Charles Colson, 73, diagnosed with Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease in September 2021, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2022, at Village Park Assisted Living in Rogers, Ark.
John was born May 29, 1948, in Tallahassee to William Maxi Colson Sr. and Grace Barfield Colson.
In 1948, his family moved to Perry, where he graduated from Taylor County High School and was a member of New Home Baptist Church.
He worked several jobs growing up, including at the Kingswood Motel and Andrews Drug Store. His career included work in the field of pharmaceuticals, computers and software, consulting services and energy.
John’s hobbies were working in his yard, taking care of his cocker spaniels and riding his ATV.
John never met a stranger and was a friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William Maxie Colson Sr. and Grace Colson Graham; stepfather, Grover Graham; and brother, William Maxie Colson Jr.
John is survived by: his wife of 35 years, Linda D. Colson; his children, Eryn and Quinn; three stepdaughters, Melissa, Heidi and Katie; one brother, Ted Colson, 12 grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 21, at 10 a.m. Burns Funeral Home Chapel of Perry. Interment services will follow immediately afterward at Woodlawn Cemetery.
