Konstantinos Nikolaos Karakitsios passed away in his hometown of Trikala, Greece, at the age of 91.
A memorial service was held in his honor on May 16, 2022, and was attended by his family and closest friends.
He was born and raised in Trikala, Thessaly, and proudly served as a lieutenant in the Greek Army.
He later moved to Perry in the U.S.A. at the age of 31, where he lived most of his life with his wife Evelyn Mantzanas Karakitsios, and his two daughters, Thalia and Ephi.
He was an honors graduate of Florida State University, and made his career as a teacher of mathematics for the Taylor County School District.
He will be remembered admiringly by many of his former students as an earnest, well-respected teacher and mentor.
He is survived by: his children, Thalia Stamatelos (and husband, Thomas) of Bedford Hills, N.Y., and Ephi Karakitsios of Athens, Greece; as well as his grandchildren, John Thomas and Nicholas George.
