FDOT will fund upgrades at Boyd Rd. rail crossing

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will soon install signal safety upgrades, including flashing lights and gates, at the railroad crossing on Boyd Road north of Perry.

Under an agreement between FDOT, the Taylor County Commission and Georgia & Florida Railway, LLC, the state agency has agreed to cover the estimated $230,000 cost to remove the existing equipment and replace with the upgrades in exchange for the county agreeing to cover one-half of the annual maintenance costs, which is expected to be around $3,900.
