The proposed construction of a new county fire station north of Perry has been delayed by at least a year, after the Taylor County Commission agreed to wait and see if the Florida Legislature will help cover a projected $600,000 funding shortfall next year.
While addressing the commission concerning the station, Taylor County Fire-Rescue Chief Dan Cassel also stated his department is in need of additional personnel due to increased call volume over the past several years.
