With scallop season opening Wednesday and the state’s recreational red snapper harvest opening today (Friday), Taylor County’s coastline is expected to be swamped with locals and visitors alike trying to collect their limits and enjoy time with family and friends.

According to Taylor County Marine Agent Victor Blanco, signs are pointing to a good scallop harvest this season, although he admits he and his team of volunteers were unable to conduct the full pre-season review as they had hoped.
