She was preceded in death by: her parents, Wilbur Morrow Aman and Barbara Shealey Aman; her husband, Norman Brewer Baker; her son, Andrew Norman Baker; her grandson, Dax Christopher Baker; and her sister, Cheryl Aman Coulliette.

She is survived by: her sister, Carol Jo Beaty; brother, Jerry Aman (Geraldine); her daughters, Amber Roach (Tim) of Perry and Hallie Richardson (Jeremy) of Greensboro; sons, Eric Baker (Sarah) and Bryan Baker (Nikki), both of Greensboro, and Dax Baker (Anne) of Westchester, N.Y.; grandchildren, Miranda Miles (Zak), Carson and Zoey Richardson, Addison, Emily and Brewer Baker, Josie Baker, and Samuel and Lucy Baker; great-grandchildren, Athan and Tatum Miller and future great-grandson, Tristan Miles; honorary grandchildren, Sheryl Ann Curles and Adam Miller; a host of nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends; and special friends, Mike Waldorf, Kathy “Sally” Sells, Rick Farmer and Julia “Lanie” Dillard.

Karen worked in the hospitality industry for 40-plus years serving as “chef to the pro golfers” during the PGA tournament for several years.

She had a love for people and never met a stranger. She was an amazing baker whose cakes were known all over this town, reaching people’s hearts through their stomachs. She was a caterer for many years before she and her sisters became the last owners of Pouncey’s restaurant in Perry.

After the closing of Pouncey’s, she continued to serve the community with her baked goods and delicious treats.

She loved all things outdoors such as going to the beach, kayaking and fishing. She enjoyed going on walks and being close with nature. She enjoyed traveling and seeing the sights.

She loved to laugh and make others laugh with her, always joking around with people. Everyone who knew her loved her.

She was full of life, energy and love. She was a very nurturing person, not only with her children, but with anyone she loved and cared for. She was a role model and mother figure to many.

Karen was very close with all her family. She loved nothing more than spending time with her siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her family was the light of her life and she made sure they all knew it.
