Scallopers urged to only keep big ones

Taylor and Dixie counties are blessed to be able to enjoy an early opening of Florida’s recreational bay scallop season — a full two weeks before any other Gulf Coast county.

While both the personal and boat bag limits are cut in half during the early season, all harvesters should also be aware that scallops are still growing and slightly smaller in size.
