Armed, suicidal man flees

A suicidal Mayo man armed with a loaded handgun led law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase Tuesday evening before being taken into custody and placed on suicide watch at the jail.

The Taylor County Communications Center (911) was contacted around 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) regarding an armed, suicidal subject heading toward Taylor County at speeds nearing 100 mph.
