    Chamber asks city to again fund fireworks

    There will be no fireworks show in downtown Perry this year, but the local Chamber of Commerce is lighting the fuse that could bring back the annual July 4th Downtown celebration by asking the City of Perry to again budget funds for it and several other community events.

    In a June 1 letter to the city council on behalf of the Perry-Taylor County Chamber Board of Directors, Executive Director Dawn Perez asks the city to reinstate an annual $10,000 allocation to the Chamber for coordinating, promoting and undertaking four annual events that “directly affect the businesses and tax base of our community.”
