Good Samaritans helped save shark victims

During his second-ever scalloping trip to Keaton Beach last Thursday, Chris Leggett had just dropped his Power Pole and watched his wife and daughter dive into the water when he heard a “bloodcurdling scream.”

Leggett, 37, of Newberry, said he was returning a text to a buddy while sitting aboard his 18-foot Sea Ark just off the Grassy Island bird rack when he heard a young girl cry for help.
