    Van Edith McHargue Burford

    Van Edith McHargue Burford, 85, passed away on July 13, 2022, in Tallahassee. She was born Jan 13, 1937, in Perry to Henry McHargue and Eva Mae Blanton McHargue. Van Edith was a Christian, and devoted her entire life to the Jehovah’s Witness ministry. She was a very special mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to all that knew her, as well as a faithful and loving wife to her husband of 54 years, Shelton. Van Edith loved tending to her flowers and vegetables; caring for her son’s three Labrador Retrievers; spending time with family, friends and her grandchildren; and serving her Lord Jehovah. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Henry McHargue and Eva Mae Blanton McHargue; her husband of 54 years, Hollis Shelton Burford; her brother, Kenneth McHargue; and her sister, Kathlyn Adleburg. Van Edith is survived by: her four sons, Reid Burford, Vance Burford and his wife, Linda, Brent Burford and his wife, Sharon, and Cliff Burford and his wife, Kristy; granddaughter, Katie Ricketson; grandson, Mason Burford; one brother, Mac McHargue; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 16, at Burns Funeral Home, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, starting at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Gardens. Burns Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
