Next year’s Gulf gag grouper season will be significantly shorter than normal after the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) approved a final rule, effective Jan. 1, 2023, modifying the season due to overfishing concerns.
Currently, the season in state waters off Taylor County’s coast is April 1 to June 30 and Sept. 1 to Dec. 31, while the season in federal waters is June 1 to Dec. 31.
