Hoping to spur development and clear the way for new businesses, the city council held a public hearing and voted to approve an ordinance reducing the required number of parking spaces in commercial shopping centers at its June 28 meeting.
In April, at the request of two potential business developments, the city council agreed to review its existing land development regulations (LDRs) and reduce the number of parking spaces required from one parking space for every 150 square feet of retail space to one for every 250 square feet.
