Solid waste assessment may be raised next year

The Taylor County Commission will consider replacing its current solid waste assessment ordinance next week, another step in a lengthy process that could lead to the elimination of current reduced rates offered to recreational vehicles (RVs) and hunting camps.

However, depending on what other decisions the commission makes over the next three months, the base $140 per parcel assessment could also be increased, as the county aims to bring revenues more in line with the actual costs related to running the solid waste department.
