County budget up 21.2%

In the first of a series of budget workshops held Monday, the Taylor County Commission began discussing a record $74 million budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year, one that includes a $1 raise for all employees and nearly $1 million in new tax revenue thanks to rising property values throughout the county.

During the nearly three-hour workshop held the morning of June 18, commissioners heard presentations from most of the county’s constitutional officers, as well as representatives from Doctors’ Memorial Hospital (DMH), the Taylor County Development Authority (TCDA) and the county’s health insurance agent.
