After years of discussions and debate over the worsening financial woes of the county’s solid waste department, the Taylor County Commission appears poised to finally balance the books – but it will come at a cost.
Last week, the commission voted 4-1 to approve a new ordinance overhauling the county’s solid waste assessment, which has been set at $140 per year for most dwellings for the past 16 years, as well as eliminating the reduced (1/3) rate of $46.67 per year for recreational vehicle (RV) sites and hunting camps.
