The Taylor County School Board has approved a $50 million preliminary budget, which reflects a $7 million (16%) increase over the prior year’s total – due in large part to inflation, increased retirement and insurance costs, as well as sweeping pay increases mandated by the Florida Legislature.
The increase also includes the award of nearly $9 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds allocated at the end of the 2021-22 fiscal year.
