    Burns’ trial delayed for mental evaluation

    Murder suspect Kenneth Brian Burns, who has filed notice he plans to assert an “insanity” defense at trial, has yet to have a mental evaluation completed by an expert from either side (defense or prosecution).

    During pre-trial hearings on Monday, Aug. 1, Burns’ attorney Lucas Taylor stated that their mental health expert “has had some medical issues and that has made it difficult to communicate. We hope to have the evaluation done by the end of August.”
