Mrs. Loisell Coleman, 95, passed away at her home on Aug. 2, 2022, in Perry.
Loisell was born Sept. 18, 1926, in Perry to Thomas Leon Edwards and Rosa Ella Strickland Edwards. She graduated from Taylor County High School, then attended Florida State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education.
She married Christie Jackson Coleman on Oct. 27, 1963, in Reidsville, Ga., and they began their life together.
She was an elementary school teacher at Perry Elementary, where she taught fifth grade for 35 years. Loisell was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Perry.
In her spare time she enjoyed reading and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Leon and Rosa Edwards; her husband of 28 years, Chris Coleman; and two brothers, R.L. and Hayward Edwards.
She is survived by: three nephews, Bob Edwards, and wife, Dorothy, of Tallahassee, Tom Edwards, of Dekle Beach and Warren Blue, and wife, Oveida, of Worthington Springs; and seven nieces, Julie Granger, and husband, John, Sharon Ratliff, and husband, Hardee, all of Tallahassee, Janet Johstono, and husband, Gene, of Perry, Susan Abrass, and husband, Tom, of Tampa, Jeanie Rodgers of Dowling Park, Rosemary Woods of Tallahassee and Bev Folsom, and husband Sam, of Perry; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 4, from noon to 1 p.m. At the First Presbyterian Church of Perry Fellowship Hall.
A private family committal will take place in Pineview Memorial Cemetery.
All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
