Happy to be home

It’s not how she imagined she would start her senior year in high school, but for Addison Bethea, being home in her own bed after weeks in the hospital is a gift in itself.

The shark attack survivor and her family are settling into a new routine of physical therapy, a regimented medicine schedule and, starting today, home school lessons.

She and her father, Shane, also expressed their thanks for the “overwhelming” show of support from family, friends and the community.

“It’s humbling,” Shane said.

A host of volunteers are coordinating a day-long fundraiser for the teen, planned Saturday, Aug. 27, at Forest Capital Park.
