Mr. Nute Demps, the son of the late John and Sarah Demps, was born May 20, 1947 in Perry.
He was a graduate of Jerkins High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Air Force.
He served as a counselor and retired as supervisor with the Department of Juvenile Justice. He was a Mason and member of the Masonic Lodge Temple #404 in Tallahassee.
He was a licensed barber. He owned and operated Demps Barbershop in the Bond
Community of Tallahassee.
He attended New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Tallahassee with his wife, Terralyn.
He was a member of Mount Olive M. B. Church in Perry.
He was a big supporter of FAMU Rattlers athletics. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Terryalyn Demps; 10 brothers, Thomas (Lueva), Jimmie, Charles, Chester (Carolyn), Harry (Rose Mary), Alexander (Minnie), Joseph, Willie Jean
(Janet), George (Alfreda) and Herman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A celebration of his life will be Friday, Sept. 9, at 9 a.m. at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church. Interment follow at the Tallahassee National Cemetery, with a noon service.
Public visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, from 5-7 p.m. at Trinity Funeral Home.
For the safety of everyone, a face mask is required for both the funeral and visitation.
Trinity Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
