It was standing room only in the county commission board room Tuesday evening for the solid waste assessment public hearing. A total of 14 people spoke in opposition to an increase in the annual solid waste assessment from $140 to $178 and the elimination of partial exemptions for hunting camps and properties with RV site hook-ups.
Taylor County’s solid waste assessment, which is levied on every dwelling unit outside the Perry city limits, will increase 27% next year — jumping from $140 to $178.
