Martiele Vivian Simpson McLeod

Martiele Vivian Simpson McLeod, 79, passed away peacefully at Perry Oaks Health Care in Perry on Sept. 9, 2022.

Martiele was born May 9, 1943, in Foley to Louis Albert and Lucille Vivian (Hatcher) Simpson.

She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Taylor County, but she briefly lived in Clyattville, Ga., where she met and married her husband of 60 years, George “Roswell” McLeod Sr.

She was predeceased in death by: her husband, George “Roswell” McLeod Sr.; her parents, Louis and Vivian Simpson; and two brothers, John Henry Simpson Sr. and James Michael “Mike” Simpson.

Martiele is survived by: her daughter, Tina McLeod Powell (Chuck); her son, George Roswell McLeod Jr. (Kathi); her granddaughters, Nicole “Nikki” Powell (Anthony Edwards) and Vicki Bass (Robert); her great-grandchildren, Brandi Bass, Logan Edwards, Tori Bass and Tristan Edwards; her step-grandchildren, Joshua Sword (Brenda), Bunni Baker (Josh) and Thomas Eaton (Lindsay); her brother, Marlin Simpson (Mary); and her sister-in-law, Louise Sims; as well as a hosts of nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
