Taylor County was spared the devastating effects of 10 to 12 feet of storm surge and 155 mph-plus winds that battered portions of South and Central Florida, however the possibility of tropical storm force winds from Hurricane Ian resulted in the closure of local schools and government offices, as well as the postponement of several local events this week.
