    Monica Octavia Granger

    Posted on October 19, 2022

Our “beloved” daughter, sister and friend, Monica Octavia Granger, was born in Perry on July 17, 1969, and transitioned on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, in Tallahassee.

She was the daughter of Minister Katie M. Granger and the late Robert A. Granger Sr., and sister to Edna D. Granger, Sameria T. Granger, Natanii K. Granger and the late Robert A. Granger Jr.

Monica was a scholar of the Taylor County School District, where she excelled not only academically, but also in various areas such as band, student council, the National Honor Society and Little Women. Following in her father’s footsteps, she furthered her education at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in Tallahassee, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in business economics in April 1993.

Being the trailblazer and ambitious individual that she was, she pursued legal studies at the University of Florida Law School in Gainesville from 1998-2000. It was also in Gainesville where she became a member of the prestigious Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

After working in various career positions, Monica was blessed to work in an area involving law where she served as a hearing officer for the Agency of Healthcare Administration in Tallahassee until her demise.

Monica was an encourager and leader who loved helping people who were facing challenges. She was also an ambitious, bold and tenacious woman who was “well-read” and always sought knowledge. Monica was an avid lover and collector of music, and she was even an “unpaid” comedian in her own right.

Above all, she was one who loved her family and her God.

Monica’s “Celebration of Life” service is forthcoming.

Trinity Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
