    Melba Jean Vann

    Melba Jean Vann went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 22, in Live Oak. She was born in Greenville to Lawrence H. Holden and Elsie Blanton Holden. Melba was a Baptist and was a member of Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and loved fishing and caring for her grandbabies. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Lawrence H. Holden and Elsie Blanton Holden; her husband of 56 years, Earl Vann; her brothers, Leo, Herbert and Beau Holden; and her sister, Juanita Sever. Melba is survived by: her two sons, Richard Earl Vann and Adam John Lawrence and his wife, Jessi Vann; her daughter, Pamela Jean Whiddon; three brothers, Bert and his wife, Linda Holden, Joe Holden and Gary and his wife, Norma Holden; and four grandchildren, Aubriana, Zoey, Huntley and Addisyn; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today (Friday) at 10 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Elder Randy Strickland and Elder Tommie Stanaland officiating. Interment services will follow at 1 p.m. at Tallahassee National Cemetery. The family will received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
