More than 100 golf carts are expected to take part in Steinhatchee’s 3rd Annual “Secret Santa Golf Cart Decorating Contest and Parade” on Friday, Nov. 25.
Organizer Mike Hill says he is expecting 100-150 holiday-themed decorated golf carts to roll through Steinhatchee in this year’s event, after nearly 100 (91) took part in last year’s parade.
The annual Secret Santa Golf Cart Parade — sponsored by the American Legion Post 291 – is set to begin at dark (around 6:30 p.m.) on Friday, Nov. 25.
Entries will begin gathering at 5 p.m. at the American Legion Post 291 on 11th Street, where the parade will start and end.
The parade route will travel north on 11th Street, turning right on 2nd Ave. SE to SR 51 and turn right on 5th Street, before continuing on to 2nd Avenue and turning right onto 11th Avenue to end at the American Legion.
Those who wish to participate can sign up for the parade and decorating contest on the day of the event starting at 11 a.m. at the American Legion or at Crabbie Dad’s – the starting and ending point for a Golf Cart Poker Run that same day from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
There will also be a 50-50 raffle drawing.
Prizes will be awarded for first place in the poker run and first through third place in the Golf Cart Decorating Contest. Winners will be announced after the parade at the American Legion.
