    County may receive up to $12 million from settlement with BP

    Nearly two years after an explosion ripped through the Deepwater Horizon oil platform off the coast of Louisiana, Taylor County officials have learned that the county could receive as much as $12 million as their portion of British Petroleum’s (BP) Clean Water Act penalties.

    The Taylor County Commission on Tuesday established the framework for a future 11-person committee which will serve as a clearinghouse to receive and rank potential projects for the penalty funds should the county ultimately receive them.
