Mike Cosner passed away from natural causes on Oct. 31, 2022. He was born Nov. 24, 1951, in Canton, Ohio. He was the third child of Ruth and Bill Cosner, along with his older brothers Rick and Bill. Mike moved to Crystal River with his family in 1963. He graduated from Crystal River High School in 1969 and went on to become a proud ironworker, working all over the United States. He enjoyed building anything with his hands and was well-known for creating many tiki totems and masks that grace homes all over Florida. He also loved gardening, reading, music, traveling, helping others and, most of all, his friends and family. He moved to Steinhatchee when he retired to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, enjoy the fishing and the friendly people. He lived there until his passing. Mike is survived by: his daughter, Amy Winstead; son-in-law, Derek Winstead; granddaughter, Cordelia; his brother, Bill; nephews, Kyle Cosner, Casey Cosner and Chris Bryant; and nieces, Jessica Roque and Peg Cosner. Mike will be missed by all who knew him. Services will be private as Mike requested. There will be a celebration of life for Mike in Steinhatchee on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, at Crabbie Dad’s from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
