Mrs. Betty Jo Ragans, age 84, passed away at her home, Saturday, December, 3, 2022. She was born in Madison County, Florida to Sadie Imo Pipkins and Remer Lee McLane on June 4, 1938. Her working career was spent at Buckeye Cellulose in the Data Processing Department. She worked there for 20 years. After retiring, Hoyt and Betty Jo founded Ragans Ace Hardware, Inc in 1989. Betty Jo and Hoyt raised their family in Perry, as members of Lakeside Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and taught in many capacities. Later in life, Betty Jo and Hoyt retired to their long-time dream of life on the family farm which they fondly referred to as “The Ole’ Home Place”. There, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, working on the farm and various family activities. Betty Jo and Hoyt were blessed with 66 years of marriage. Betty Jo was preceded in death by Hoyt in February 2022, her parents, and her sister, Cathryn Haskell Carver. She is survived by her two daughters, Pam McCranie (Ralph) of Alachua, FL and Kathy Escoto (Moe) of Smyrna, GA, and one son, Keith Ragans (Marilyn) of Perry, FL. She was blessed with 8 Grandkids and 3 Great Grandkids, as well as their long-time caregiver and friend, Shernita (Nita) Solomon. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 9, 2022, at Beggs Funeral Home, Madison Chapel. Visitation will be from 1:00PM–2:00PM at the Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Madison, Florida. Beggs Funeral Home in Madison Florida is assisting the family. You may leave your condolences at our website at www.beggsfuneral. com.
