    Mary Jo Byrd

    Mrs. Mary Jo Byrd, 76, passed away on Dec. 8, 2022, in Perry.

    She was born March 04, 1946, in Burgaw, N.C., to William Joseph Moore and Mary Eunice (Rivenbark) Moore.

    She moved to Perry in 1978 from Milton, Fla., where she had lived for many years.

    Mary was of the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, reading and embroidering/ crocheting in her spare time.

    She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and especially her many great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by: her husband, James William Byrd Sr.; her son, James William Byrd Jr.; her parents, William and Mary Moore; and two siblings.

    She is survived by: her daughters, Juanita Hill and her husband, Tyson Hill and Constance Sno Jo Byrd; three brothers, Billy Moore Jr., Freddy Moore and Ira Moore, all of Perry; two sisters, Vernie Adkins of Perry and Fannie Hancock of Hampton, Va.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    A graveside service will be held for family and friends at Pisgah Cemetery in Perry on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m.
