Daniel Kellon Musgrove, 74, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday,
Dec. 9, 2022.
Dan was born in Laurel, Miss., to William Kellon and Juanita Sims Musgrove on Dec. 27, 1947. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1970 as a chemical engineer and started his lifelong career with Buckeye Cellulose in Perry.
He was also a manager at Buckeye locations in Memphis, Tenn., Oglethorpe, Ga., and Mount
Holly, N.C., until his retirement in 2004 when he returned to Perry.
Wed 53 years, Dan and Janice Musgrove were married July 5, 1969.
They enjoyed their
children and grandchildren, family gatherings, and many cruises and vacations with
good friends and family. He especially liked to visit North Myrtle Beach, S.C., for beach
music and Carolina Shag dancing, as well as attending and watching Georgia Tech
sports.
Dan served and worshiped for many years at First Presbyterian Church in Perry,
where he was an elder, a treasurer and a longtime choir member.
He was also a
founding member and president of Taylor County Habitat for Humanity, building homes
for community members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Allen Musgrove, all of
Laurel, Miss.
He is survived by: his wife, Janice; two children, Michael Musgrove (and Amy
Musgrove of Tallahassee) and Karen Musgrove Roszak (and David Roszak of
Westfield, N.J.); and grandchildren, Kellon Musgrove, Chandler Musgrove, Mason
Roszak and Lauren Roszak.
A memorial service and reception was held at 11am on Tuesday, Dec. 27, on what would have been Dan’s 75th birthday, at First Presbyterian Church in Perry, where he was interred in the All Saints Garden Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, remembrance may be given to First Presbyterian Church of Perry
or Habitat for Humanity of Taylor County.
