Margaret Roberts

Margaret Roberts, 88, passed away the evening of Jan. 4, 2023, in Tallahassee. She was born Feb. 5, 1934, in Sirmans to Joe and Mary Alice Horner Maddox. She married James H. Roberts Sr. at the age of 17 on Nov. 30, 1951, and lived a wonderful 71 years with him. This union was blessed with three children. Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, Granny and homemaker. Mr. Roberts was a minister and Margaret loved being a preacher’s wife and leading singing in various churches. She gardened and enjoyed canning the vegetables that were the fruits of her labor. Mrs. Roberts was predeceased by: her parents; a daughter, Carol Gunter; a son-in-law, Joe May; siblings, Charles Maddox (Louse) and Donnie Maddox; and brother-inlaw, CT Aman. She is survived by: her husband, James H. Roberts Sr.; her son, James H. Roberts Jr. (Edna); daughter, Patricia May; son-in-law, Tommy Gunter; siblings, Jeanette Aman, Louise Hill (Kermit), Travis Maddox (Michele) and Wayne Maddox (Gail); nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
