    Dorothy Lou ‘Lou’ Raulerson

    Dorothy Lou “Lou” Raulerson, 78, passed away after a brief illness on Jan. 17, 2023, at her home in Perry.

    She was born Jan. 22, 1944, in Perry to Willie Russell and Fannie Blue.

    Lou drove a school bus for more than 15 years for the Taylor County School District, which she enjoyed doing very much.

    She attended barber college in Tallahassee, from 1979-82 when she graduated. She then opened “Lou’s Barber Styling Den” in October 1982 and worked there for 40 years until September 2022. She cut generations of families hair. Her customers were also her family.

    Lou was loved by many. She was beautiful and loved to have a good conversation. She had a genuine, caring personality. She enjoyed a good joke and loved to laugh and have fun. Lou was full of life and did not like to sit still. She loved a good yard sale and a good bargain! She will be missed by all.

    She was preceded in death by: her parents, Willie Russell and Fannie Blue; a daughter, Katrina Kim Jenkins; and her sister, Dee Ward.

    She is survived by: her daughter, Rhonda Portwood (Jerry); three grandchildren, Kellan Wisenbaker (Christina), Katrina Cryer (Kevin) and Greg Jenkins (Chelsea); four great-grandchildren, Kein, Hunter, Lane and Callie Jo; and three nieces, Brenda, Donna and Wendy.

    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 10 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. Interment services will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 20, from 6-8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
