Eula Mae Gant Grittin

Eula Mae Gant Griffin, 91, passed away peacefully on Jan. 31, 2023, at Lafayette Health and Rehabilitation in Mayo.

Eula was born April 11, 1931, in Thomasville, Ga., to Professor Frank Joe Barnes and Maggie Smith. She was of the Methodist faith, while cherishing a long career as cosmetologist and business owner of the G&G Foxtrot Beauty Salon.

Eula moved to Perry in 1951, where she met and married Wade Gant and started a family.

In 1985, Eula met and married her second husband, William Griffin, and they enjoyed a happy life together until his death in 1991.

Eula is survived by: her children, Earl Gant (Beverly) of Tampa, Christina, and granddaughter, Holly Gant, grandson, Corey Griffin, whom she adopted, Frank Gant, Joann Baskin and Cecil Gant, all of Perry, and Diane Foster (Rusty) of Palm Beach; 18 other grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

Eula is preceded in death by: both her parents; 11 siblings; her son, George Gant Sr.; and husbands, Wade Gant and William Griffin.

Viewing will be held at Stewart Memorial AME Church on Friday Feb. 3, from 4-6 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. at Stewart Memorial AME Church, followed by interment at Springhill Cemetery.
