Steven Andrew Slaughter, 57, passed away on February 13, 2023 at his home in Shady Grove, FL, surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born November 18, 1965 in Muncie, Indiana to Rufus Slaughter and Sue Owens Slaughter.

Steve was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Midway Baptist Church of Perry. Steve aka “Bird Brain” worked as a Bleach Plant Operator with Buckeye Technologies until his retirement in 2018. He was an avid outdoors man and lifelong member of Three Rivers Hunting Club. He loved to troll with beetle spins and set bush hooks in the Aucilla River. Since his retirement he drove many miles in one of his many old Toyotas with his best friend Reece, checking on the river daily. Steve loved and enjoyed his family with all that he was, and was blessed to welcome his grandson, Truett, into this world just 4 weeks ago. If you knew Steve you knew he was just a simple man, and he will truly be missed by all those who loved and knew him.

Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Frances Owens, and Bennett and LJ Slaughter.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Wendy Slaughter; his son Rayne (Claudia) Slaughter and their son Truett and his daughter Aucilla “Sissy” Slaughter; his parents Rufus and Sue Slaughter; brothers Randy (Tori) Slaughter and Benny (Patsy) Slaughter; his aunt Carol Pickron; his uncle Pete Slaughter; his other mama, Margie (Don) Sheffield; his practice grandbaby Kayson Sauls; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, and many, many dear lifelong friends.
