    Charlotte “Jean” Pittman

    Charlotte “Jean” Pittman, 84, passed away on Feb. 27, 2023, in Mayo. Jean was born Aug. 6, 1938, in Oak Hill, Fla., to Hobert A. Howland and Annie Loraine Hutchinson Howland. She was a Baptist and a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church. Jean worked as the judicial assistant for more than 40 years serving under three county judges: Judge Declan O’Grady, Judge Buddy Murphy and Judge Bill Blue. She loved traveling and her all-time favorite place to go was Pigeon Forge, Tenn. She loved shopping and spending time with her family. Jean was preceded in death by: her husband of 55 years, Clyde Pittman; her parents, Hobert A. and Annie Loraine Howland; two brothers, Garrett Howland Jr. and Ellis Howland of Oak Hill; and three sisters, Leila Mae Avery, Margaret Robinson and Irene Howland, all of Oak Hill. Mrs. Pittman is survived by: her children, Jimmy (Nancy) Pittman and Joyce (Phillip) Read of Perry; three grandchildren, Jerrod Pittman, Danny Read and Haley (Tyson) Hart; and eight great-grandsons, Jacob and Davis Read, Trace and Tyler Hart, and Jayce, Jaydon, Jayston and Jaylon Pittman; as well as a host of nieces and nephews; and her dog and faithful companion, Prissy. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 3, at 11 a.m. at Pineview Memorial Cemetery with Buddy Murphy and Donnie Pittman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 2, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
