Wanda Shaw Murphy Willis
Wanda Shaw Murphy Willis, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Doctors’ Memorial Hospital in Perry on March 13, 2023.
Wanda was born on July 3, 1932, to Clint Shaw and Mary Kearns Shaw. She was a lifelong resident of Taylor County.
She was of the Christian faith and taught Sunday school for many years.
She was a homemaker until her kids were grown. After which, she worked as a manager at Kenwin Dress Shop until she retired.
She was an excellent seamstress who delighted in creating beautiful clothing for friends and family.
She was passionate about volunteering. The Boys & Girls Club, Hospice and Meals on Wheels were a few of her favorites.
She traveled North America extensively including Alaska, Hawaii and Canada. Wanda was an avid animal lover and always had multiple pets.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, Everett Murphy Jr. and Jack Willis; her brothers, Harold and Rod Shaw; her daughters, Esther Lyons and Sarah Murphy; and her grandchildren, Dakota and Jared Bain, Kristen Clark and Lee Sieja Jr.
She is survived by: her children, Hal (Linda) Murphy, Suzan Murphy Bain, Rad (Susan) Murphy, Rose (David) Walker and Marc (Linda) Willis; 17 grandkids; and 15 great-grandkids; as well as her brothers Wayne (Esther) Shaw, Randy Shaw and Tim (Liseth) Shaw; and her honorary brother, Bob Bell.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, March 17, at 11 a.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, Perry Chapel.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, starting at 10a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations may be made to Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
