Dredging mired in permitting delays

As local officials feared, the county’s efforts to use federal RESTORE Act funds to dredge a number of public canals along the coast — beginning with Keaton Beach and the Steinhatchee boat ramp basin — have become mired in a lengthy permitting process that is now expected to stretch through most of 2023.
