    City without legal counsel

    Posted on April 28, 2023

During the city’s April 25 meeting, Mayor Shirlie Hampton and members of the city council presented outgoing City Attorney Ray Curtis with a plaque expressing the city’s “deepest gratitude” for his “distinguished and devoted service to the City of Perry” for nearly a decade (2013-23).

The City of Perry will apparently be without legal counsel for an undetermined length of time, as City Attorney Ray Curtis made it known he would not be available beyond his Friday, April 28, effective resignation date, and city council members were unable to align their schedules to conduct interviews with two applicants until the city’s next meeting on May 9.
